Hello Families and Students,
Welcome to my teacher page! This will be my ninth year teaching mathematics at Health Careers Academy High School. I have also previously worked as a Substitute Teacher and taught 7/8th grade mathematics.
After graduating from Edison High School and starting my studies at San Joaquin Delta College, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of California Davis. The experience I have gained from all the years I’ve spent studying math, taught me that anyone can learn math if they are open to learning and willing devote the necessary time to study it. I am looking forward to providing an environment where my students can ask questions, take risks, and explore math.
This class will be challenging at times and will require extra time spent studying outside of class to understand the material. Students will be required to actively participate in class, complete all assignments, and must arrive to class ready to learn with their required materials (pencil, highlighters, dry-erase marker, planner, notebook, and course materials).
To support our students in their math courses, HCA offers after school tutoring at the Math Lab every Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday from 3:35-4:35pm in room 26 (unless otherwise announced). Also, I will teach my students how to use Khan Academy (an excellent online resource), which will give them the power to learn anything, at any time or place.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting you all and having a great school year!
