INTRODUCTION
Let me introduce myself. My name is Brad Butcher and I teach Chemistry, Human Body Systems (HBS) and AP Biology here at the Stockton Health Careers Academy. I have been at HCA since the 2012-13 school year. I began my career teaching in Los Angeles at Hawthorne High School near LAX. After moving to Stockton (in 2003) I have worked around the district as well as at UC Merced and the University of the Pacific. I am very excited to be a part of the HCA team and consider it my home.
I love science and I love working with teenagers. When in college I was a biology major studying to go to medical school. In my spare time I worked with teenagers in youth groups and in camps. While medicine was my first love and passion, a growing desire to work with teenagers led to me realize that teaching students to become doctors, nurses and other health care professionals could have a much greater impact on my community than me just being one doctor alone. As a teacher I get to pursue both of my passions and at HCA, I truly get to realize my educational desires.
Away from school I enjoy spending time with my wife (also a teacher at HCA) and our two sons. I love the outdoors and outdoor activities such as snow skiing, water skiing, hiking, backpacking, and running. I am a huge sports fan and root exclusively for the the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco Forty-Niners, and the San Jose Sharks.
