    Welcome Back To School!

    Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  My name is Darren Rusk and I will be your child’s teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  I am very excited about this year and I feel that your child will make great progress.  We have some new students in class, but we also have some familiar faces.

My teaching assistants Kim Howell and April Hill will continue with me this year.  I feel like we are an very effective team and I am looking forward to working together this year.

We will be continuing the same reading and math programs from last year.  We also will have access to alternative curriculum for students who struggle with the standard programs.  Most of our students will have homework packets that I give out on Monday and are due the following Monday. I also recommend that students read or be read to for at least twenty minutes every day.

Our school schedule is the same as last year.  School will start at 8:55 each morning and end at 2:55 PM.  Lunch is at 11:30.  It is important that the students get a good night’s sleep and a good breakfast in the morning.  If you think your child might need them, please send a set of clothes with your child that we can keep for them here.  Accidents happen and we like to be ready.  If your child needs diapers, please send at least two or three on a daily basis and some extras that we can keep here also.

If you have any concerns or questions, please call me either through the main Hoover office (209) 933-7215.  I am usually here until 4 PM.    Or call or text me anytime on my cell phone (209) 610-9099 and I will get the message and get back to you.

This year, I will also be starting a web page for our classroom on the SUSD Hoover school site.  Please check us out.

    Sincerely

    Darren Rusk
