Kevin McBride-Luman
My name is Kevin McBride-Luman, and I teach Mathematics and Physics at Weber Technical Institute. I have taught students from 2nd-12th grade and at the collegiate level, primarily in Los Angeles, and Stockton, California. I was raised outside of Turlock, California and our entire family worked all year around to raise and harvest our own food and livestock, and to cut enough firewood to heat our home in the winter. I played soccer and basketball from 6th grade throughout high school, and I sang in every choir and played in every band that I could from Kindergarten through college. I studied Cross-Cultural Studies/Linguistics and Music at Trinity Western University in British Columbia, Canada, and then studied History of Religions at UCLA before coming to K-12 teaching. Eventually, I worked my way around to teaching high school Mathematics by taking classes at CSU, Stanislaus and passing CSET tests. I taught Mathematics and Web-Design at Edison High School for 5 years before coming to Weber Technical Institute. I am at Weber because I truly believe in the small school model and the college and career focus. At Weber, “College & Career” is a reality, not just a rhetorical flourish. Also, I truly enjoy and respect my students, I feel that I belong at Weber, and I believe that I am making a difference in students’ lives here.
