SkillsUSA provides opportunities for students to become leaders in their communities and in their career technical education pathways, which prepares them for the 21st century workforce.
Weber Institute's chapter 523 consists of 387 members, all our students and staff, thanks to you, the board, and our district, for providing the support and funding. Weber Institute students, grades 9-12, competed at the SkillsUSA Region 5 Conference and Competition in February. Weber students competed in 11 different CTE skill competitions (Medical terminology, First Aid-CPR, Health Knowledge Bowl, Nurse Assisting, Mobile Robotic Technology, Engineering, Interactive Application and Video Game Development, Web Design, Introduction to Automotive Technology, Automotive Service Technology, and Photography) and 8 different leadership competitions (Chapter Display, Promotional Bulletin Board, Job Interview, Opening and Closing Ceremony, Prepared Speech, Creed, 20-Second Elevator Speech, and Quiz Bowl).
WEBER SHINING BRIGHT
Weber students will be traveling to Ontario, California on April 13th to compete in the SkillsUSA California State Leadership and Skills Conference.
SkillsUSA teaches students the important connection between classroom lessons and real world applications through the use of career and technical skills. SkillsUSA prepares America's high performance workers and provides quality educational experience for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. SkillsUSA builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communication skills. Total quality at work, high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of work are also emphasized.
