• Accelerated Reader

  • Parents,

You are probably hearing a lot about Accelerated Reader (AR) from your child and you might be wondering exactly what is expected of your child.

Accelerated Reader is an online assessment that quizzes your child on the book they have read.  There are three steps to using Accelerated Reader:

    1. Students choose and read a fiction or a non-fiction book. Students may read them individually or in class they will read with partners and with their reading groups.
    2. Students take a quiz on the book using the computer.
    3. The Accelerated Reader program keeps track of the number of words your child reads, the number of books your child reads, their reading level and their comprehension skills.

This program has a special feature called Renaissance Home Connect, which you and your student can access outside of school from any computer with an internet connection.  Renaissance Home Connect is fun and easy to use.  It allows the teachers, students, and parents to share information about their progress in Accelerated Reader.

Thanks for being a partner in your student's success!
