Adrian Gonzalez - Assistant Athletic Director
Email: Adrian Gonzalez
Phone: 209-933-7435 ext. 8305
Career Bio:
Mr. Gonzalez has had a strong passion for “the beautiful game” since he was a child. He brings 20 years of coaching experience to the Yellowjackets. He began in 1994 as a recreational coach and was able to advance his team to the state championship tournament in his first year as coach. While continuing to coach at the recreational level for four years, he also coached his Alma Mater, Tennyson High School, for three years. In those three years, he was able to start a JV program to help build the soccer program at Tennyson. While continuing to coach recreational league and high school, Adrian was introduced to the California Summer Olympics in 1995 (Now called Western States Police and Fire Games). This is an event which is similar to the Olympic Games but is for law enforcement agents, firefighters, corrections officers, probation, border protection, immigration, customs and other agencies. He spent eight years with the Santa Clara County Department of Corrections, then eight years with the Oakland Police Department as a soccer coach. The level of play is equivalent to Men’s 2nd division, similar to today’s National Soccer League. His teams were able to win multiple gold, silver and bronze medals over the 16 years he was coach.
In 2009, after moving from the Bay Area to the Central Valley, Adrian coached in the NorCal Premier organization and was able to take his team to the top 20 in the rankings in Northern California. On top of his coaching responsibilities, Adrian was a field coordinator for his club in Tracy and a Recreational Director for the same club as well as a second club. He saw an opportunity for players who wanted to continue playing at the end of the recreational season in the Fall. He successfully ran these spring leagues for two years, earning over $15,000 in profits for the leagues.
Adrian holds a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (Now United Soccer Coaches). He has attended several coaching clinics over the years, including NorCal AFC Fiorentina Basic Course, NorCal AFC Fiorentina Advanced Course, NorCal International Coaching Clinic (Brazil, Portugal, Holland). Adrian has a Bachelor’s Degree from DeVry Institute of Technology (Now DeVry University), a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University and is CTE credentialed in Information Communication and Technologies as well as Business and Finance.
