    How to Obtain a Work Permit

    Beginning August 1, 2024, all work permits will be processed at the high school sites.

     

    Franklin High School Students

    Check in at the College and Career Center (C114) to find the procedure for obtaining a work permit.

    Steps to Obtain a Work Permit

    1. Get the Form: Pick up a Work Permit Request form in C114 or print it from here: Form B1-1 Statement of Intent to Employ a Minor and Request for Work Permit-Certificate of Age
    2. Complete the Form: Fill out the Minor’s Information and School Information sections.
    3. Signatures: Have your parent or legal guardian sign their portion of the form.
    4. Submit the Form: Return the completed Form B1-1 with all required signatures to C114.
    5. Verification: Counselors will check that all necessary requirements are met.
    6. Notification: You will be contacted when the work permit is ready, usually within 3 business days.
    7. Pick Up: Collect the completed permit and take the Form B1-4 back to your employer.

     

    Important Reminders

    • Work Permit Applications must be signed by both the employer and a parent or guardian.
    • A social security number is required to process a work permit.
    • Student ID will be verified through district records.
    • The completed “official” work permit must be signed by the student and the Counselor, so the student must be present to pick it up.
    • A new work permit is required for each new job.
    • Summer work permits expire on August 7, 2024.
