Hello Van Buren Parents,
This month we will focus on Driving Tips for Winter. According to Allstate, Fall means back to school for students, which means more cars and buses on the roads. Drivers need to watch for pedestrian traffic in the morning and afternoon as children walk to and from school.
Safety Tips for Driving in Fog:
- Do not use high beams
- Drive very slow and stay well behind the car in front of you.
- Be on the lookout for pedestrians while driving in the city, and by schools.
Safety Tips for driving in rainy conditions:
- Make sure you are driving slow
- Make sure you are looking out for pedestrians
- You should have good functioning windshield wipers. They should not streak the glass.
- Make sure all headlights, taillights, brake lights and turn signals are working properly.
It is very important to follow the above driver’s safety rules, especially in neighborhoods where children are walking to schools and bus stops! Students should always use sidewalks and crosswalks when walking to and from school.
