Welcome! 

Hello and welcome to room 14, Ms. Chase’s second grade! I've been teaching in Stockton Unified School District since 2007. This year will be my 11th year teaching second grade and I love it! Van Buren is an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) certified school.  The main goal of AVID is to promote college and career readiness for all students.   

Each class, kindergarten through 8th grade, is represented by a United States university. Our university is Howard University, Washington D.C., established over 150 years ago.  During rallies and assemblies, each class represents their given college with a unique cheer. Families are welcome to join in on this experience at our Friday morning rallies and monthly awards assemblies. Our students take pride in their universities and their college cheer!

This year I'm using ClassDojo to send messages to students and families.  On this platform, parents and guardians are able to view class projects, activities and students' accomplishments.  All of my students are already connected to ClassDojo.  I've sent invitations to each family to join our Dojo. If you haven't received an invitation, or you're having trouble connecting to Dojo, please email me at the address below.  

A back-to-school night session will be held on Monday, August 5th, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. I'm looking forward to meeting family members who will be an important part of my student's life this year.
