Dress For Success at Spanos Elementary

Dress for Success
  • Dress Code for Alex G. Spanos Elementary School

Spanos Elementary requires that each student must report to school in our school uniform. Our school believes that uniforms are essential to help students develop pride in their school and to ensure that we maintain a positive and safe school climate.

Dress Code Goals for Spanos School are:

    • Create a sense of community and encourage students to recognize their educational environment.
    • Allow students to focus on academics rather than apparel.
    • Encourage students to prepare for the world of work through practice with business acceptable attire.
    • Reduce peer pressure to wear the latest styles or expensive brands (especially in grades 6th-8th)
    • Reduce costs for parents.
    • Maintain a safe environment for all students, ensuring that they are easily identifiable on field trips or within the school building (especially in grades 6th-8th)

    The following are specifically forbidden

    • Flip-flops or open-toed shoes
    • Hats/caps or hoods worn in the building*
    • Sunglasses
    • The purposeful display of undergarments
