Dear King School Families,
Welcome back! I hope you had a great summer vacation! I am so happy that you are a part of our amazing learning community. It brings a lot of joy to all of us when we see our families together on campus. Last year, we were able to host many family events that either celebrated students, fundraised for our student activities, or educated families on how to help students be successful students. Thank you to the many families that attended. I think my favorite event was the Fall Festival. We look to hosting this event in October again this year. It is one of our biggest fundraisers.
This next year, we will be continuing to focus on helping our students work together as a community of learners by encouraging them to work collaboratively, be problem solvers and be reflective learners inside and outside the classroom. We hope that parents can assist us in helping their children be independent problem solvers. We are excited to add a noon-time coach next year to assist with creating more structured playtime during recess breaks.
Last year, we worked on expanding the Sciences and career exploration. This year we are happy to report that we will be expanding in the area of the Arts. The new funding allocation will allow for us to have our Music teacher full-time along with integrating the Arts into our program. Students at King receive a well-rounded education. Our mission is to empower our students to reach their highest potential and inspire excellence for ALL of our students so that they have no barriers to reaching their goals for their future.
I hope everyone likes our new marquee! Our district was gracious enough to replace our outdated marquee last March. The marquee helps us communicate quick messages. There will be additional upgrades to our roof, fencing, and playground structures this year.
As your Principal, I am honored to serve our community and students. This will be my 19th year as Principal and my 31st year at King Elementary. I am so proud of our school and the many accomplishments of our students and staff. Let us make it a great school year at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School! Please save August 13th for Back to School Night, 5:00-6:30. Let’s go lions!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fabian, Principal
