My name is Savan Prak and I am a school counselor at Pittman Charter School. In addition, to my role as a school counselor, I am also the advisor/instructor for the Martial Arts Club. I started my formal martial arts training in 1994 at Pomona High School in the Tae Kwon Do Club during the after school program. Since then, I have trained in various martial arts; karate, kendo, escrima/arnis, San Soo Kung Fu, etc. I am a proponent of a martial arts program in the school setting because it promotes the development of respect for self and others and helps with meeting the social and emotional needs of school children.
