It's a Terrific Day to be a Tarzan!
At Stockton Alternative High School, we are committed to using Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) to create a more supportive and engaging environment for our students. Our approach focuses on building strong connections with students, which helps improve attendance and reduces disciplinary incidents like suspensions and referrals. By implementing PBIS consistently, we aim to foster a positive school culture where every student feels valued and supported in their academic journey and personal development.
- ROAR:
- Resilience: to equip students with the strength and adaptability needed to navigate challenges, foster personal growth, and succeed in both academic and personal pursuits.
- Opportunity: to provide students with diverse experiences and pathways that broaden their horizons empower them to explore their interests, and prepare them for current and future endeavors.
- Achievement: to inspire students to strive for excellence, reach their full potential academically and personally, and lay a solid foundation for future success in their chosen pursuits.
- Respect: to foster a culture where students learn to value diversity, treat others with dignity, and contribute positively to their school community, preparing them to engage respectfully in broader societal contexts beyond graduation.
Some of the many ways in which we implement PBIS on our campus:
- Tarzan Tickets
- At Stockton High, we utilize the Tarzan Ticket system as a fun way to reward positive behaviors. Students earn tickets for demonstrating exemplary conduct, which they can then use to enter raffles for various exciting prizes throughout the year. It’s a great way to encourage and celebrate good behavior in our school community!
- Weekly Tarzan Time
- Throughout the school year, Stockton High hosts multiple days featuring a variety of clubs, games, sports, and activities that encourage social interaction among students and school staff. These events may include BBQs, movie screenings, guest speakers from the community and colleges, and opportunities for staff and parental participation, all contributing to a lively and inclusive school environment.
- Mindful Monthly Meet-Ups
- We are committed to nurturing student social and emotional development through our Mindful Monthly Meet-ups. These sessions emphasize mindfulness skills and provide coping mechanisms such as painting, drawing, gardening, baking, animal therapy interactions, and other various activities, fostering a supportive and enriching environment open to all students. Our focus on student growth and overall well-being is paramount in everything we do.
