Our Purpose
Foster Youth Services is dedicated to offering educational support and resources while addressing the distinct needs of children and youth in the foster care system, those involved in the juvenile justice system, and tribal youth.
We focus on providing assistance in navigating education legislation to ensure that these individuals receive the support they require for their educational journey.

Services
♥ Safeguard educational rights-AB 490
♥ Immediate enrollment in school
♥ Support and advocacy
♥ Ensure appropriate school placement and minimize changing of schools
♥ Assist with prompt transfer of educational records
♥ Educational case management, encouraging positive attendance and academic achievement
♥ Facilitate communication between foster care providers, social workers, probation officers, school district staff, and other stakeholders
♥ Training for school district staff, families, and community partners
♥ Provide school supplies
♥ Collaborate with Child Protective Services, Probation, transitional housing, County Office of Education, and other school districts
♥ Referrals to Special Education, Mental Health, school counselors, afterschool expanded learning opportunity program (ELOP), Early Childhood Education, Child Welfare and Attendance
♥ Participate in the coordination of service meetings such as; School Support Team (SST) meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and Child Family Team (CFT) meetings
♥ Connect with community resources
