  • MATH RESOURCES ON THE WEB

    • A Maths Dictionary for Kids: This is an animated, interactive dictionary for students which explains over 600 common mathematical terms in simple language.
    • A+ Math: This site contains games, flashcards, and a simple worksheet generator. Topics focus on basic skills.
    • Algebra Help: This website covers topics ranging from fractions to basic algebra concepts. The basic concepts for algebra are taught through well-explained examples. Each algebra help tutorial is separated into concept, examples, and “try it out yourself” sections, giving the student ample practice and clear explanation. Common errors are spotted and the student is personally guided through the thinking processes of questions.
    • Algebra 1 Online: This website provides complete online lessons for students. It utilizes PowerPoints, various websites, and Prentice Hall videos.
    • Algebra 2 Online: This website provides complete online lessons for students. It utilizes PowerPoints, various websites, and Prentice Hall videos.
    • Ask Dr. Math: A question and answer service for math students and their teachers. A searchable archive is available by level and topic, as well as summaries of Frequently Asked Questions (the Dr. Math FAQ).
    • Blue Web’N: A great site for teachers looking for lesson ideas and resources. Contains hundreds of web links.
    • CoolMath: This site is designed for ages 13-100. The level of math is from fractions up (prealgebra and up).
    • Coolmath4kids: This site is designed for kids ages 3 through 12. It focuses on everything until they get to prealgebra (up through fractions), then, they graduate to Coolmath.com.
    • Coolmath-Games: This site is loaded with cool thinking games, math games, and jigsaw puzzles. It is great for kids of ALL ages.
    • Discovery Channel: This is a good site for teachers. It has lesson plans and other web resources. One of its greatest resources is the puzzle maker program which allows you to make crosswords and other fun things.
    • Educational Java Programs: This website has java applets for students to explore important mathematical concepts.
    • Fun Brain: This is a site for students and teachers. It has math games to practice basic facts.
    • Fun Math Lessons by Cynthia Lanius: This website has engaging lessons and web links for a variety of math topics.
    • Gamequarium: K-8 games, virtual manipulatives, online calculators, and graphing tools.
    • Graphmatica: Equation plotter for algebra 1 and up.
    • Illuminations (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics): Online activities and lessons.
    • Lexington One Instructional PowerPoints: Provides numerous PowerPoints on basic skills with whole numbers and fractions.
    • Integrative Pre-Algebra for Students in Homeless Situations: Contains 16 “read only” PowerPoints on various math topics.
    • Internet 4 classrooms: This site has hundreds of links by grade level for online tools, tutorials, games, resources, etc. The standards cited are Tennessee state standards, but topics can be selected by name.
    • Kuta Software: Test and worksheet generators for math teachers.
    • Math: This is a good resource for students, parents, and teachers to learn math. The website provides assessment, modular courses, 24/7 online tutoring, and expert answers to math questions.
    • Math2: Provides math reference tables in English and Spanish, as well as links to math-related websites.
    • Math Forum: A good site for teachers. Resources include help with math, tools and resources, problems and puzzles.
    • Math Counts: A good site for teachers to find problems of the week
    • Math Goodies: A website for students, teachers, and parents. Includes interactive lessons and a worksheet generator.
    • Math Playground: Practice skills, do logic puzzles, or play games. This website is designed for elementary and middle school students.
    • Maths Starter of the Day: Contains warm-up/starter problems for every day of the month.
    • Teach Science and Math: Articles, activity/lesson ideas, and other resources for math and science.
    • National Library of Virtual Manipulatives: Provides interactive java applets for grades pre-K to 12. Some manipulatives can be used for demonstration. Some are interactive problems or puzzles for students to do.
    • Online Math Learning: Provides free online lessons, worksheets, and videos for higher-level math.
    • Primary Game: Tons of online games for pre-K to 4th-grade students
    • Purple Math: Provides lessons, demonstrates techniques, provides warnings of likely "trick" questions and points out common mistakes. Internet links provide information on sites containing lessons, tutoring, worksheets, and articles on how math is used in real life.
    • Sites for Teachers: Provides links to other websites. Sites are sorted by popularity so it can be challenging to find a resource for a particular topic.
    • Soft Schools: Provides games for students and worksheets for teachers on elementary and middle school topics.
    • SuperKids: Free resource for teachers to create worksheets to practice basic facts.
    • Teaching and Learning Math: A blog about teaching math. Includes some lesson videos and links to more resources.
    • Visual Fractions: Models fractions with numbers, lines, and circles. Worksheets in PDF are available.
    • Wolfram’s MathWorld: Wolfram’s MathWorld is the web’s most extensive mathematical resource. It provides summaries for more than 300 mathematical terms, extensive citations to books and journal articles, interactive resources, including interactive three-dimensional geometry, and a powerful full-text search engine.
